eBay is renowned for being an online auction and shopping platform where individuals and businesses can trade a wide variety of goods and services globally. However, like a two-sided coin, eBay's extensive inventory is both a strength and a challenge. Although it offers a vast selection, it can make it challenging for buyers to locate the specific item they're seeking.

Designing wasn’t the hard part — designing It RIGHT was. Redesigning item tiles wasn’t about making things prettier—it was about making search feel faster, clearer, and smarter. That meant navigating:

  • Legacy tiles were inconsistent, overloaded, and fragile

  • Needed to balance clarity vs. detail for different buyers

  • Designed for modularity across dozens of use cases

  • Every visual change had to respect speed, SEO, and trust

Search is eBay’s most critical surface—and also its most resistant to change. To get this work launched, I had to navigate deep cultural and systemic blockers:

  • Needed to turn vision into proof, alignment, momentum
